Training

Fox Valley Workforce Development Board (FVWDB) recognizes that occupational skill sets are ever changing in today's workplace. Available employer focused training options are provided for either job seekers or current employees (ie, incumbent workers) and can include the following types of training:

Customized Training

To assist in meeting the need for a skilled workforce, Fox Valley Workforce Development Board provides financial support for and conducts periodic specialized training courses to meet industry needs. Examples of these accelerated courses, typically provided by area technical colleges, are LPN and welder training.

AchieveGlobal's leadership training programs can provide your organization with the skills needed to give your company the competitive advantage.

Customer Service - Your ability to acquire and retain customers while delivering solid customer service is vital to your organization's long-term success. AchieveGlobal's customer services training programs provide the skills needed to give your company the competitive advantage.

Incumbent Worker Training

Keeping current worker skills up-to-date in a rapidly changing marketplace is a major challenge for many employers. Funds dispersed are awarded based on program eligibility and are matched by the participating employer. For full details, contact a member of the Business Services Team.

OJT - On the Job Training

The Fox Valley Workforce Development Board (FVWDB) was recently awarded a grant from the Department of Labor (through the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development) specifically targeting individuals who have been out of work on or after 1 January 2008, have been laid off for at least 18.2 weeks, and are enrolled in the dislocated worker program through the job center. The intent of the grant is to help employers offset the cost of training new personnel and therefore encourage expansion. Additional requirements are in effect. Individuals who may be eligible, should visit their local job center for more information. This grant is due to expire 30 June 2012.

WorkKeys / Key Train (future)

The NCRC is a transferable credential that proves an individual is work ready. It is a tool that demonstrates to employers that an individual possesses the basic skills required for success in today's workforce. The program is based on hard-skills testing integrated into a system called WorkKeys®, which was created by ACT, a nationally-recognized assessment organization. The ACT WorkKeys job skill assessment system is a validated, EEOC-compliant system used to evaluate jobs and compare the skills required by certain jobs. It verifies that the person can handle tasks in: applied mathematics, reading for information, and locating information.
