U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division Enforces the ADA provisions prohibiting discrimination on the basis of disability in state and local government services. Provides a variety of publications free to the public. Enforces ADA provisions that require nondiscrimination in Public (Title II) and private (Title III) mass transportation systems and services. (For this last matter, see also the U.S. Department of Transportation.)
Enforces the provisions prohibiting discrimination on the basis for disability in public accommodations and commercial facilities. Provides technical assistance to individuals, organizations, and companies with rights and responsibilities under the law and provides a variety of publications free to the public.
U.S. Architectural and Transportation Barriers Compliance Board (Access Board) This federal agency developed the ADA Accessibility Guidelines (ADAAG) which were adopted by the DOJ and DOT as enforceable standards called the ADA Standards for Accessible Design. The Access Board provides technical assistance on the ADAAG.
Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Enforces ADA telecommunications provisions (Title IV) which require companies offering telephone services to the general public to provide telephone relay services to individuals who use text telephone or similar devices.
