Job Seeker

A job seeker is anyone who is unemployed, underemployed, or looking to change careers. The FVWDB has six one-stop job and career centers in our seven county area. Please visit the link to the right to find the one closest to you.

The job and career centers offer many services to job seekers, including:

Core Services (job searching, resume writing, etc.)

Intensive Services (WIA programs)

Core Services

The Job Centers provide a variety of job search services to all job seekers regardless of background or financial standing.  These services include the following:

  • Information on available job services

  • Information on local education and training providers

  • Assistance in filing claims for unemployment insurance

  • Online job search assistance

  • Resume and cover letter preparation

  • Interviewing techniques

  • Skills assessments

  • Computer programs and tutorials

  • Career counseling

  • Labor market information detailing job vacancies, skills required for in-demand jobs, and local, regional, and national employment trends

  • Workshops on such topics as job searching skills, resumes and cover letters, the art of the interview, effective communication skills, computer basics, and life skills enhancement

  • GED/HSED classes through the local technical colleges

The Oshkosh Job Center also provides on-site day care.

Intensive Services

For those meeting certain eligibility guidelines, additional services may be available through the federal Workforce Investment Act (WIA) programs the Fox Valley Workforce Development Board administers.  Click on a program below to find out more information.
